Why Rec Therapy Today Uses Artificial Intelligence — And Why Human Connection Still Matters

At Rec Therapy Today, we believe in being transparent.

Yes — we use artificial intelligence (AI) tools in parts of our work.

We use AI to help:

  • edit blog posts,
  • improve readability,
  • brainstorm ideas,
  • enhance images,
  • and assist with creating quiz questions inside our CEU platform.

For example, our learning platform can automatically generate multiple-choice test questions based on course content. This technology can create several questions in seconds.

However, AI is not perfect.

Sometimes the wrong answer may accidentally be marked as correct. Because of this, we still review, edit, and monitor the content carefully.

AI is a tool.

Not a replacement for professional judgment.

We also continue to believe something important:

Recreational therapy is deeply human.

People still need:

  • connection,
  • empathy,
  • encouragement,
  • creativity,
  • presence,
  • laughter,
  • support,
  • and meaningful relationships.

Technology continues to change the world.

Netflix replaced Blockbuster.
Streaming changed television.
Social media changed communication.

And AI is changing education and content creation too.

We do not believe recreational therapists should fear innovation.

We believe RTs should learn how to use new tools responsibly while continuing to focus on the human side of care that technology cannot replace.

At Rec Therapy Today, our goal is simple:

Use technology to improve efficiency and learning while continuing to create meaningful, human-centered resources for recreational therapists.

We are committed to continuing to learn, adapt, grow, and serve the recreational therapy profession responsibly.

“Do It Right the First Time” Is Terrible Advice

By Danny W. Pettry II, M.Ed. M.S., LPC, NCC, CTRS-BH I remember hearing teachers give this advice: “Do it right the first time, and you won’t have to do it again.” It sounds like good advice. And sometimes it is. If I’m completing a task I already know how to do,...
