Recreational therapy involves much more than leading activities. Recreational therapists assess client needs, develop treatment goals, implement evidence-based interventions, document outcomes, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams. Activities are selected intentionally to support emotional regulation, social skills, cognitive functioning, physical engagement, and overall well-being.
Every intervention is designed to support therapeutic outcomes, not just participation.
