Insight # 1 – January 2026
Each month, I share one practical insight to strengthen your recreational therapy practice.
Not every meaningful outcome in recreational therapy is immediate.
Sometimes progress looks like:
• A client staying in group a little longer
• A participant trying something new after weeks of hesitation
• A moment of connection that doesn’t show up neatly in documentation
• A client regulating emotions more effectively than last time
These moments matter.
They reflect skill, presence, and therapeutic intent—even when they don’t feel “big” in the moment.
As recreational therapists, it’s easy to focus on what still needs to change. It’s just as important to notice what is changing, even subtly.
Small, consistent therapeutic moments often lead to the most meaningful long-term outcomes.
If you have a chance this week, take a moment to reflect:
• What small progress have you seen recently?
• What quiet success might be easy to overlook?
Those moments are part of the work—and part of the impact you’re making.
Thank you for the care, creativity, and professionalism you bring to recreational therapy.
