Recreational therapy needs more professionals willing to step forward.
To share ideas.
To teach.
To mentor.
To advocate.
To lead.
Many RTs do meaningful work every day, but too often they stay quiet about the impact recreational therapy can have.
The profession grows stronger when recreational therapists:
- present at conferences,
- mentor students,
- share interventions,
- write articles,
- educate treatment teams,
- and advocate for the value of RT services.
One idea from Seth Godin’s book stands out:
“We need your idea, please.”
That applies to recreational therapy too.
The future of the profession will be shaped by RTs willing to contribute instead of simply observing from the sidelines.
Leadership does not always mean having a management title.
Sometimes leadership means:
- sharing an idea,
- helping a coworker,
- mentoring a student,
- improving an intervention,
- or speaking up about the value of recreational therapy.
Recreational therapy needs more visible voices.
And the profession becomes stronger every time an RT decides to contribute.
