Recreational therapists can play a critical role in recovery from eating disorders by creating safe, supportive leisure environments. Activities that focus on strengths, creativity, and teamwork—rather than appearance or performance—help build confidence. Gentle, enjoyable movement like yoga, walking, or dance can reframe physical activity as positive and life-enhancing. Art, journaling, or group discussions about personal values can support self-expression and identity beyond body image.
