Many RTs shared concerns about low wages. This is a nationwide issue across healthcare, and it can be discouraging. While we can’t control facility budgets, we can take steps to increase our professional value and create more opportunities.
1. Develop specialty skills
Training in areas like trauma-informed care, dementia, behavioral health, or adaptive sports can open doors to higher-paying roles.
2. Document measurable outcomes
When you clearly demonstrate patient progress, you strengthen your case for raises, promotions, and leadership roles.
3. Become the “go-to” person
When you’re known for creativity, professionalism, and consistency, leadership takes notice.
4. Invest in continuing education
CEUs help you grow into a more skilled and confident practitioner—something that pays off long-term.
Your work matters, and your value is real. The more you grow your skills, the more opportunities will follow.
