Working with clients who have Bipolar Disorder requires flexibility and awareness of mood cycles. Recreational therapists can help by teaching clients to recognize energy levels and select leisure activities that promote balance. For example, calming activities like meditation may be more helpful during manic phases, while uplifting, structured engagement may support those in depressive phases. Encouraging journaling, art, or music provides safe outlets for self-expression. Most importantly, RTs can use recreation to promote stable routines that contribute to long-term wellness.
