Ray Archer is an Adjunct Professor at Lehman College Master of Arts and Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (MA,CTRS).
He views his role as being an advocate for the profession and motivating students to be the best they can be. He provided some wonderful and insightful encouraging words to the students that he gave permission to share with the field. “Therapeutic Recreation is such a unique profession. we are called to serve those with special needs, and everyone can not do it. It takes a very special and unique individual to fulfill this calling.”
He encouraged the students to get involved and stay involved with local and national organizations in recreation therapy.
“Time and money should be put into these national conferences, as national organizations provide legal representation and political connections that we need. We can get international resources from professionals who do research, write books, and are highly dedicated to this field.”
