  • You can earn five (5) clock hours of continuing education (05 CEUs) for attending and participating in all five sessions.
  • You can register and attend any one (or all five sessions) on Saturday, April 24th, 2020.
  • People who participate by viewing webinar will receive an automated email with their certification of completion at the end of each individual webinar.
  • Webinars are limited to 500 people. We overbook these events to make sure 100% of the seats are filled. sometimes people sign-up for a free event and then they don’t show up so we have empty seats. Sign-in several minutes early to assure you have a seat for each session you register for.

Session # 2:NCTRC Overview and Recertification Process

  • Presented by: Susan Kaufer, CTRS
  • Time of Session:10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
  • Clock hours/ credit: One clock hour of continuing education (0.1 CEU)
  • Summary of Session: This session will focus on various aspects of the NCTRC Certification Program including an overview of NCTRC services and review of where Certification Standards come from. Review of requirements for Recertification will be provided, including the option for the Specialization Area Designation. In addition, the speaker will provide a brief overview of the upcoming changes to the certification standards, special projects and updates.
  • Learning Objectives:
    • 1. Define the NCTRC CTRS recertification standards including the two components, interpretive guidelines, necessary hours required for recertification and the requirements for the areas of specialization.
      2. Apply the ten Job Tasks and the six Knowledge Areas of the 2014 National Job Analysis Study to the recertification process
      3. Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to discuss special projects and NCTRC updates.

Session # 3:The RT’s Guide to Habitual Thriving

  • Summary of Session: Based on evidence from Hardiness, Resilience, Grit and Positive Psychology and grounded in Psychiatric Rehab practice the HT (Habitual Thriving) perspective proclaims and explains a model/framework for positive change for you and for your clients.

    • a. Identify assessment tools specific to well-being of individuals and promoting well-being in RT programs.

Session # 4:Using Visual And Pictoral cues in recreational therapy

Session # 5:Social Justice and Health Equity: Connections to TR

  • Summary of Session: Social justice and health equity issues have been in the spotlight recently. The framework or lens through which these issues are viewed depend on personal life stories. As a growing allied health profession, therapeutic recreation can advocate for social justice and health equity in innovative ways. Learn some approaches through the interventions and programs provided as part of therapeutic recreation services.
  • Learning Objectives:
    • The participant will explain an issue and solutions from three different varied perspectives.
    • The participant will describe how to include social justice tenets in developing therapeutic recreation programs.
    • The participant will discuss ways that recreation therapy can reduce or eliminate disparities in health and health determinants that adversely affect excluded or marginalized groups.
