Danny Pettry is a Certified Success Principles Trainer through Jack Canfield’s organization.

This is week # 16 out of the 52 weeks in 2020.

This week’s success principle is:

Be Willing to Pay the Price for Success

Success doesn’t happen by accident.

Success is the sum of determination, persistence, effort, and sticking with it.

How many hours does it take for someone to become an expert?

Malcom Gladwell argues 10,000 hours.

There is no such thing as an overnight success.

A person’s success may tip over and become well-known to the world overnight.

However, we don’t see the many hours of effort behind the scenes.

Professional baseball players, ballerina dancers, skateboarders, or anyone have put in hours of practice.

Example:

  • Legendary violinist Isaac Stern was once confronted by a middle-aged woman after a concert. She gushed, “Oh, Id’ give my life to play like you!”
  • “Lady,” Stern said acidly, “that I did!

Isaac Stern didn’t become a successful violinist in one day. It took years of dedicated practice.

What Do You Need to Do?

You have an idea of what you want to accomplish in life. This is your goal.

You won’t reach your goal by accident.

It will require you to PAY THE PRICE for success.

Examples:

6-pack abs would take…

Concert pianist would take…

Question: What do you want to accomplish? What price must you pay to accomplish that goal?

Final Thoughts:

Dr. Ted Muilenburg was my professor during undergraduate school for a course I had completed through West Virginia State College. The course was on leisure education and counseling.

Muilenburg shared this with the class:

First a dream, then an act, then the dream becomes a fact
