  • I learned our nursing staff need to be more aware of where they are when they discuss patient confidentiality
  • Being reminded of the tools we have as therapists and refreshing that we know how to implement them in helping ways
  • This helped me realize some areas I need to implement better while working with my kiddos in the behavioral health setting.
  • I like how you discussed problem-solving with pros and cons. It’s something I often forget to do when A patient asks for advice
  • We don’t have to solve the problem. I agree that as a helper I want to fix the problem…but I cannot help those who don’t want it.
  • Just refreshing my knowledge base since I haven’t really been working in field for last couple years. Most is common sense for us RT’s.
  • A lot of it was a refresher, but it’s good to hear. Sometimes we forget the little things because we get used to going through the motions.
  • Yes, I did not know how to look for congruence and have only recently realized that we as professionals need to pay attention to that as well.
  • It was 100% applicable to my profession. I learned assertiveness skills and questions to ask when I observe in congruent behaviors and statements.
  • The information is presented in short and with examples. I appreciate the webinar, it validates what I’m doing currently and it refreshes my memory.
  • I thought it covered all the ideas well and gave good examples. Danny also has a really nice way of presenting information. I liked the laid back vibe.
  • “I liked the finding congruence technique and the sample language used to inform patients of a noticed difference between body language and words used.
  • I also liked the example of pros/cons listing for problem solving and the steps with an example to walk a patient through all the possible outcomes etc.
  • I was reminded that problem solving is always about that therapist solving client’s problem to to equipt them with the tool their need to make the final decision.
  • I thought that it was very educational– even though it was a refresher– it put a better spin on it than most trainings I have done and I will remember more of this one. “
  • I learned about professional relationship and how to manage the client in that area. I learn more about congruence and the relationship to counseling using that technique.
  • I enjoyed the session and found it to be a great refresher. Been out of mental health for about 8 months and starting a new RT job back in mental health the end of the month.
  • I learned about different ways to utilize counseling tools with my patients to bring forth good communication and the techniques were a great refresher for when I go back to see my patients
  • Not new, but I appreciated the inclusion of rapport. I recently had student who was so shy, I had to coach her on responding to other therapists we share cubicles with, let alone building rapport with patients.
  • I don’t think I necessarily learned anything new, but it was a great reminder of what we should do and be as rec therapist. Actually, now that I think about it, I enjoyed the communication and active listening game you shared!
  • I feel I use these daily being in community mental health/behavioral health. This was a great reminder and refresher to of our every day skills, that sometimes I look over with hectic that can arise in a session or catch you off guard.
  • It was to the point, which helps kept my attention. It was a good refresher of how to communicate in a therapeutic way with patients. Helped remind me too that as Rec Therapist we spend a lot of time with the patients, in which we tend to learn a lot about them and build rapport.
  • It was a good refresher, we are not supposed to provide “counselling” but these techniques are still useful for when a resident confides in you. Also teaches good skills for showing a resident you are listening to them when they talk to you. Helps with rapport knowing they can trust you and that you are showing active listening skills
  • I LOVED the pros and cons list and the order in which it was presented. My default question to all my clients is generally ‘so what are you going to do about that?’ or ‘where do you go from here?’. I absolutely love this as it allows me to have a more productive conversation with my clients by providing more direction and clarity but still allows them to make come to their own conclusions.
