- The secrets were fantastic and I was happy to be able to use this for my patients in previous years. So glad Im doing things right!
- I actually really enjoy the idea of setting aside time to worry. That is a fantastic idea, and I hope I can utilize it appropriately!
- I liked that you can use positive aspects for psychology to work on the negative- taking time for yourself- helping clients with self.
- I’m a big over thinker, so remembering that our experiences, bx, attitudes, happiness, etc make up that positive psychology is important.
- I liked hearing other attendee’s responses. I noticed that no one said that social media brings them happiness. Something to think about!!
- Positive psychology is easier to implement than I had thought and I didn’t realize that I have already practiced it many times with clients!
- It gave me an opportunity to extend my knowledge in my new place of employment, I find the information I gained is going to help my new caseload.
- I am very interested in the mindfulness section of positive psychology. I would love to learn more techniques for mindfulness and supervising staff.
- It’s a nice refresher on activities and the need for outcomes to be happening during those activities. Not just doing it for the sake of the activity.
- I actually learned a lot of things. And as a new employee in the health care system I can totally see myself using some of the things I learned last night
- My patients really like it when I joke around and make them laugh. Sometimes my coworkers are just too serious and I like to make things lighter and more fun.
- Honestly, I even work in psychiatry and I didn’t realize how little of a focus the positives have been in research compared to the counter parts such as depression.
- i loved the topic. People focus on negatives and we as RTs need to change their thinking and focus on the positives, especially working with the geriatric population
- I loved how you talked about various ways Rec therapists can apply positive psychology and also how you mentioned that we’re basically positive psychologists already! So true!
- I think I will implement the humor therapy into our groups (at a adult day center) in the form of having a group in the morning read through some jokes or have a joke of the day!
- The first T chart was a good way to re-think what and how we help people in their day to day lives. Not depression but happiness, turning the non-positive to more positive outlook.
- I’m often surprised when reflecting on how our leisure and what’s important to us is really right in front of us. Being happy and content does not have to involve lots of money and high tech and large adventures.
- Having cartoons, quotes, and humor included in the webinar about positive psychology helped me have a more positive I learned the fun fact that if you hold a pencil in your mouth, you are forced to smile!!
- I agree most RT’s already do provide positive psychology and it was neat to see the different ways people provide it. I did learn some things we already do can be considered positive psychology I just never thought of it that way!
- I think in 30 years of my RT career in psych / residential and now with seniors I have been doing this!! Focusing on strengths, optimism, life satisfaction, happiness, well-being, gratitude, compassion, self-esteem and self-confidence & hope.
- I learned some new interventions such as the satisfaction wheel, the pencil smiling trick, and the scheduling worry time. Prior to this webinar I wasn’t aware that positive psychology was a legitimate focus for treatment. Thank you for the information.
- I enjoyed learning about Positive Psychology and how the information was presented. As mentioned, I really liked Danny’s presentation style. I also really gained a lot of ideas from learning about RT Interventions that are based in Positive Psychology.
- Having learned about positive psychology previously, it was great to learn how it connects with RT and how to implement these practices with our clients/participants. I also felt the presentation was well presented and did not just feel like a course lecture.
- The different examples of activities were interesting to me. I usually shy away from lessons like that and do more activities because I’m afraid the population I work with (behavioral health) won’t respond well. But I might try some of those and see how it goes. I also like the positive psychology assessment questions, and I feel like my facility’s RT program could use some updating.

- It was very good! I think it’s good to engage people and you did in the beginning. Maybe do another engagement halfway through to make sure people are paying attention.
- This was my 1st webinar and I absolutely loved it. I learned a lot about Positive Psychology and it sparked my interest in this topic. Thank you kindly Danny, A++, Jacqueline
- Initially I wasn’t sure if I got in on computer or by phone as it hadn’t started @7pm. Glad to know it was just technical issues. I’m glad I hung in there. Thanks for all you do!
- I love your webinars, they are to the point. I wish there was a way to view what everyone was typing or responding to your questions. Or just chatting via typing with everyone else participating
- I thought the interactive part was great (even though I listened to the replay) and enjoyed hearing other attendee’s responses. To improve, providing some of the information in writing would be helpful to reference later on.
- This was one of the more general (less specific) detailed webinars I have attended from Danny. I seem to enjoy the ones with more specific applicable ideas and suggestions. Could have just been that most of the subject matter wasn’t new to me.
- Good information, but I felt like it was about 85 or 90% stuff I already knew. Maybe that’s what the 5 contact hour positive psychology course is for, though. One complaint I do have, and I know it’s minor. But you were talking about what if we called recreation therapy something different – one of my teachers in college made it a point to call it recreation therapy rather than recreationAL therapy. He pointed out that “recreationAL therapy” makes it sound like we do therapy in our spare time, and I think he was right and that it’s an important distinction. I would be curious if you agree with that or if you think that’s silly? Just food for thought. Thanks for the webinar!
