Position: Program Coordinator-Ballou Recreation Center
Salary: $35,716.00-$56,074 Annually
Duties: Danville Virginia Parks and Recreation is seeking an experienced individual to plan, schedule and oversee the daily activities of Ballou Recreation Center. Must have experience in planning, organizing and executing a varied schedule of life enrichment opportunities for all levels of seniors from those who are very active to those with cognitive impairments.
Requirements: A minimum of two years’ experience working with educational and senior programs for individuals over the ages of 55 is required, experience in the supervision of employees is required, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, volunteers, community groups, boards, businesses, citizens and co-workers. Uses creative ideas, can multitask, implement plans and remain flexible. Ability to produce monthly newsletters and flyers. Person must have compassion and desire to work with the senior population, able to do presentations before large groups of people, flexibility with schedule including availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays. Must possess a valid state driver’s license. Prefer education equivalent to graduation from an NRPA accredited college or university with a degree in leisure services with considerable experience in recreation.
