Position: Youth Program Coordinator CTRS
Salary: OPT/$1,600 per week

Duties: Attend 6 day therapeutic retreats for Military Families in various areas across the USA.
Serve as CTRS for 5 retreats per year or more.
Provide 3-4 therapeutic art activities per retreat.
Plan/program and execute the Youth Program daily.
Plan/program and execute the Teen Group daily.
Assist Counselor in Teen Group when necessary.
Assess participant’s needs through observations, adjusting therapeutic activities accordingly.
Create therapeutic programs that meet participants’ needs and interests.
Engage participants in therapeutic activities.
Teach participants ways to cope with anxiety or depression.
Manage retreat volunteers throughout daily responsibilities.
Handle all things associated with recreational activities during retreats.
Follow APIED process to document Youth Program/Teen Group groups
Requirements: Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist required
2 years of programming experience with military and/or children
Experience with PTS/TBI diagnosis
Knowledgeable about Youth and Teen mental health
Proficiency in the use of pertinent computer applications required, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Creative, quality-minded and resourceful to offer great value within budget
Ability to work both independently without close oversight and as a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels

Flexible and adaptable style with the ability to take initiative and to manage multiple tasks and projects at a time
Additional info: Staff will travel to and from the retreat site and will typically work a partial day on arrival and departure days. In addition to travel days, there are usually four full days during retreat where staff typically work for 7am – 9pm on those days, with breaks throughout the day.  Retreats on weekends are common. All costs associated with travel (flights, etc) are paid for by organization.
